About
Our goal is to reach as many vulnerable communities as possible, not only to offer them independent work but also to provide them with training so that they can have their own businesses, always with the purpose of keeping the ancient textile traditions alive. Bearing in mind that each swimsuit takes between one to two days to make.
Hi, Im Brigitte
I am the founder of BLu Crochet Swimwear, a brand deeply rooted in the traditions and values I learned from my grandmother. Raised in Huanuco, Peru, I grew up watching her work tirelessly as an independent seamstress, creating beautiful garments with skill and dedication. Her passion and commitment to her craft left an indelible mark on me, shaping my aspirations and work ethic.
At 18, I moved to the United States, where I navigated various fields while pursuing a degree in medicine. My diverse experiences and cultural background fueled my desire to explore the world and its natural resources. This journey led me to a profound realization: I wanted to make a positive impact through my work, championing ethical and sustainable practices.
BLu Crochet Swimwear embodies this vision. Our mission is to create the highest quality handmade swimwear from eco-friendly, sustainable materials, catering to eco-conscious women of all sizes. We strive to honor the legacy of craftsmanship and dedication passed down from my grandmother, ensuring that each piece we create reflects our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices.
I am now studying international business with the vision of becoming a recognized leader in the business world, inspiring others through innovation, integrity, and excellence, while building a brand that reflects my values and leaves a positive mark on society.

Our Story
Blu Crochet was born with the basic idea of creating a brand hand in hand with the work of women in resilience; creating our first collection in the prison of the city of Huánuco – Peru with the organization “Cárceles Productivas”, 4 years ago. We provide them with training to improve their tissue and by belonging to this organization we provide them with positive support for their sentences, as well as a job as micro-entrepreneurs for their future reintegration into society.
Unfortunately, due to the impact of COVID-19, we had to stop working with our women’s group in prison. Today, several of them continue to make their own crochet products as micro-entrepreneurs. Today we have a workshop in Mexico and Peru; improving our sales month by month with the sole motivation of continuing to offer work to our entire team so that the BLu crochet brand reaches the hands of another woman with the awareness that each piece is unique and has a story of each woman who did it.
Our goal is to reach as many vulnerable communities as possible, not only to offer them independent work but also to provide them with training so that they can have their own businesses, always with the purpose of keeping the ancient textile traditions alive. Bearing in mind that each swimsuit takes between one to two days to make.
“Our mission to empower women begins with our contribution to improving their economic situation, offering them stable income and a safe work environment.”
We’ve been showing case our collection at Miami Swim Week for 3 years, gaining significant exposure around a very competitive, in the industry, city of Miami. We will continue spreading my Latin American roots, of which I feel very proud. Thus also giving a commemoration to my grandmother who was an independent seamstress and remembered for the support of communities.
