A group of artisans meet in caves to make the elaborate hats, since humid conditions are required to handle the palm fiber, so it could not be done outdoors. It is completely manual, starting with the cultivation and care of the palm and later cutting it into thin fibers; the difficulty of making each piece depends on the cut of the palm leaf; Once a good quantity of fibers has been obtained, the skein or thread is baked to dehydrate it and give it its characteristic ivory tone.
A hat can take up to a month to make, depending on the design made.
